The differences between 20# and 45# seamless steel pipes.

45# seamless steel pipe standard is GB8162, and 45# steel only has GB8162. 45# seamless steel pipe is a commonly used seamless steel pipe in mechanical processing.
The contents of C, Si, Mn, P, and S in 20# seamless steel pipe and 45# seamless steel pipe are different, with 45# seamless steel pipe being higher than 20#. The hardenability and hardening ability of 20# seamless steel pipe are low, while its plasticity, toughness, and weldability are good. After hot rolling or normalizing, the toughness is even better. It can be used to make less important medium and small carbonitriding parts and forgings, such as lever shafts, gearbox shift forks, gears, heavy machinery pull rods, hooks, etc.
45# seamless steel pipe is a commonly used medium carbon quenched and tempered steel with good comprehensive mechanical properties. It has low hardenability and is prone to cracking when water quenched. Small parts should use quenching and tempering treatment while large parts should use normalizing treatment. It is mainly used for manufacturing high-strength moving parts such as turbine impellers and compressor pistons. Shafts, gears, racks, worm gears, etc.
The carbon content of 45# seamless steel pipe is about 0.45%, containing small amounts of manganese and silicon with relatively low sulfur and phosphorus content.
