Advantages and disadvantages of Cr12MoV steel and performance modification

With advantages such as good hardenability, high hardness, good wear resistance, and small deformation during heat treatment, it is often used to make cold work molds that bear heavy loads, have large production volumes, and complex shapes. However, this steel is prone to issues such as brittleness during use. Research shows that improving the morphology and distribution of carbides in Cr12MoV steel can effectively enhance the material's toughness.
Common processes include forging preheating quenching, solution double refinement process, cooling quenching, and isothermal quenching. Among them, the solution double refinement treatment uses heat treatment methods to refine carbides and round their edges while also ultra-refining austenite grains. The main measures of this process are high-temperature solution and cyclic refinement. High-temperature solution can improve the morphology and particle size of carbides; the purpose of cyclic refinement is to ultra-refine austenite grains. Compared with ordinary heat treatment, vacuum heat treatment has many outstanding features such as preventing surface oxidation and decarburization; small quenching deformation; good stability and repeatability of the process; safe operation; high degree of automation; and a good working environment. As requirements become increasingly stringent, vacuum heat treatment for mold parts is receiving more attention.
The first data to be tested is the flow velocity of water or steam, specifically under natural circulation cooling conditions with copper cooling walls combined with steam cooling. The temperature difference in water changes with the height of the blast furnace. By measuring the water temperature in all internal connecting pipes between cooling walls, it becomes clearer that: water temperature varies with changes in blast furnace height. The heat transfer situation at different parts of the blast furnace can well explain this situation.
It should be considered that with varying heights at different parts of the blast furnace, different cooling areas and different cooling intensities affect heat conduction calculations.
