Characteristics and Applications of Welded Pipes

2013-09-06

The production process of straight seam welded pipes is simple, with high production efficiency, low cost, and rapid development. The strength of spiral welded pipes is generally higher than that of straight seam welded pipes, allowing for the production of larger diameter pipes from narrower billets, and also enabling the production of pipes with different diameters from billets of the same width. However, compared to straight seam pipes of the same length, the weld length increases by 30-100%, and the production speed is lower. Therefore, smaller diameter welded pipes mostly use straight seam welding, while larger diameter welded pipes mostly use spiral welding.
Welded pipe products are widely used in water supply projects, petrochemical industry, chemical industry, electric power industry, agricultural irrigation, and urban construction. They are one of the twenty key products developed in our country. For liquid transportation: water supply and drainage. For gas transportation: gas, steam, liquefied petroleum gas. For structural use: as piling pipes or for bridges; docks, roads, building structure pipes, etc.
