Classification of welded pipes

2013-08-30

Welded pipes are made by bending steel plates or strips into shape and then welding them. They are classified into straight seam welded pipes and spiral welded pipes based on the type of weld seam. According to their use, they can be divided into general welded pipes, galvanized welded pipes, oxygen-blown welded pipes, wire casing, metric welded pipes, roller pipe, deep well pump pipe, automotive pipe, transformer pipe, electric welding thin-walled pipe, electric welding special-shaped pipe, and spiral welded pipe. General welded pipes: General welded pipes are used for transporting low-pressure fluids. They are made from Q195A, Q215A, Q235A steel. Other easily weldable soft steels can also be used for manufacturing. Steel pipes must undergo water pressure tests, bending tests, flattening tests, etc., with certain requirements for surface quality. The usual delivery length is 4-10m and often requires fixed-length (or multiple lengths) delivery.

The specifications of welded pipes are indicated by nominal diameter (in millimeters or inches). The nominal diameter differs from the actual size. Welded pipes are classified into ordinary steel pipes and thickened steel pipes based on specified wall thickness. Steel pipes are further divided into threaded and non-threaded types based on the form of the pipe ends.
